Amazon Restructures US Delivery Network into Eight Regions

Instead, fulfillment centers now primarily serve customers within their designated region. Amazon’s research teams utilized optimization models to determine the optimal number of regions, ultimately settling on eight. The company’s same-day perishable grocery delivery service has expanded to over 2,300 cities and towns, driven by the increasing popularity of fresh food purchases online.

Amazon’s investments in new fulfillment centers and delivery stations are further solidifying its position as a key player in the US shipping market. The company now leverages a network of approximately 1,000 facilities across the country to support its regionalized delivery system. This extensive infrastructure allows Amazon to operate more efficiently and respond quickly to changing customer needs.
