(Tokyo = Yonhap News) Correspondent Ho-jun Kim = At 1:08 a.m. on the 22nd, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake occurred off the eastern coast of Kyushu, Japan, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the epicenter was 40 km deep, and the earthquake was observed in parts of Oita and Miyazaki prefectures as a result of shaking of the magnitude 5 river.
The Japan Meteorological Agency’s own rating of 5 is a level of shaking that most people find difficult to walk without holding onto something.
A lot of tableware from the ceiling and books on the bookshelf fall indoors, and furniture that is not fixed may fall over.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said there is no risk of a tsunami due to the earthquake.
