A child dies in an accident suspected of sudden rash… The National Forensic Service begins an investigation

◀ Anchor ▶

There was an accident where a 12 year old grandson was killed when a van driven by a grandmother fell into an underground passage at a height of 2 metres.

The bereaved family suspect a speeding accident, but the National Forensic Service has launched an investigation.

Reporter Lee Ara will tell you.

With a roar, the van starts running at high speed.

Even after hitting a stopped car, it continues to spew smoke.

When the car doesn’t listen, the grandmother who was driving anxiously calls her grandson’s name in the back seat.

“Oh, what is this, no. This is not good, OO”

However, the vehicle, which had traveled about 1 km, crashed into the median barrier, flew over the road in 6 round trips, and crashed into a 2 meter high underpass.

A 12-year-old child in the back seat died at the scene, and a grandmother in her 60s was also seriously injured.

3 minutes have passed since the roaring started.

The first inspection was carried out by the National Forensic Service, such as the accident recorder, but difficulties are expected in the investigation as there are not a few unclear parts.

Experts stress sudden acceleration, saying that it is unlikely that the driver drives a distance of 1 km while avoiding other cars without braking.

“It is characterized by a sudden roar from the engine, rapid acceleration, and large amounts of exhaust gas and smoke emitted from burning tires.”

In the accident recorder, EDR, it was recorded that the accident vehicle was running at a speed of over 110 km/h after the first accident when the vehicle in front of it was hit.

At this time, the RPM and engine speed increased to 5,900, and the brakes were off.

“All the other computers (devices) have gone stupid, but only the EDR device is sober. Isn’t it right?

The National Forensic Service also said there have been few recent cases of EDR device errors, and said it would continue to check the data.

“Because we need to protect data (EDR), of course. We prepared all the black box videos around us and things like that, and we analyzed them once…”

In addition, we intend to investigate whether the notebook found next to the accelerator pedal was there before the accident or came on as a result of the impact of the accident.

The automaker said it would cooperate with the police investigation and await the results of the investigation.
