Mumbai: With the announcement of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup, senior player Dinesh Karthik is the talk of the town. Thirty-seven-year-old Karthik is in the team as India prepares for another World Cup after fifteen years.

Rohit Sharma, who partnered Karthik in their first World Cup win, will lead India in Australia. Karthik, who was man of the match in India’s first Twenty20, was dropped from the team and moved to a commentator role in 2021. Karthik, who was teased by his teammates during the England tour in 2021, returned to the jersey blue with a great performance in the IPL.

Last season, Karthik scored 210 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 205.88. With this, Karthik, who returned to the team, secured his place in the team for the Twenty20 World Cup. Karthik has played 50 T20Is for India and has scored 592 runs with a half century in 40 innings.

While Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel returned to the 15-member squad for the World Cup, Malayalee player Sanju Samson was not considered. Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik are the wicket takers in the World Cup team. In Ravindra Jadeja’s absence, Axar Patel came in as the left-arm spinner while Ravi Bishnoi and pacer Josht Khan dropped out.
