A North Korean fisherman is a North Korean defector broker?

◀ anchor ▶

Two days ago, People’s Power made a surprising claim that the two North Korean defectors who were forcibly repatriated to North Korea were ‘defective brokers’, not heinous criminals.

They even held a press conference based on the stories they heard from defectors.

As the controversy over whether the ruling party’s official TF even held a press conference based on rumors only spread, voices within the people’s power that “it’s not the party’s position” and “it seems that the murder is right” came out one after another.

It looks like they are in a hurry to pick up the press conference contents.

Correspondent Kim Min-chan reported.

The People’s Power Security Disturbance TF claimed that the two North Korean defectors who were forcibly repatriated to North Korea in 2019 were not ‘violent criminals’ but ‘North Korean defectors’ based on the testimony of defectors.

At the same time, the Moon Jae-in government announced that it was false.

“The fact that (two North Korean defectors) killed 16 people is that North Korea lied to get these two defector brokers back…”

However, when there was a controversy that the claim that the North Korean defector was not a murderer was a kind of communication from the North Korean defectors, the people’s power hurried to evolve.

“It’s true that the announcement was made in a confusing way now, so I’ll correct this. This is not our party’s position…”

Rep. Tae Young-ho, a former North Korean defector, drew a line on the broker theory, saying that a North Korean fisherman confessed to murder.

“There is evidence that I confessed to the murder, and even according to the data released by the public security authorities of our current government, there has been no data yet to deny the murder itself.”

A high-ranking government official also said, “No one has the authority to decide whether or not to kill, but it is highly probable that two North Korean defectors killed.”

Rep. Han Ki-ho, who first raised the possibility that a North Korean defector might be a broker, asked the question, “I just conveyed the story of a North Korean defector.”

“Four times I’ve said ‘according to the testimony’ in between.”

However, it seems inevitable that the ruling party, which makes the issue of repatriation of fishermen to the North, has been criticized for holding a horse-style press conference without a proper verification process.
