A popular front hits a hartal; So far 1287 people have been arrested in the state

Thiruvananthapuram: Widespread arrests were made in the state today in the violent incidents that took place on the hartal day called by the Popular Front. So far 308 cases have been registered in the state related to hartal violence. Out of this 1287 people were arrested. The police also said that 834 people are under preventive detention.

Five people were arrested today in a case of violence in Kozhikode city. Nadakavu police arrested three people and Nallalam police arrested two people. Three people have been arrested in connection with the vandalism of a hotel in Nadakao and the vandalism of a KSRTC bus at the civil station. Mohammad Basheer was arrested at Kaadhoor Kollaryakal house, Jamsheer at Nadakav Nalukudi Param and Jamsheer at Sajna Niwas of Puthiyakadav. Nallalam police have arrested Mangalassery Mohammad Hatim and Abdul Jafar, natives of Marad, who attacked a KSRTC bus in Nallalam. The accused were remanded in custody.

District Secretary Nizam Puthur, Popular Front District Secretary Nafnaz and Shaukat were arrested by the Vadakara police for pelting stones at a truck on the day of the hartal in Vadakara Atakatheru.

Five people were also arrested in Kottayam. Ashkar of Thrikodithanam and Riaz V. Rasheed of Changanassery were arrested for stone pelting at the hotel in Kurichi. Shaiju Hameed, Fefiq Razzaq, VS Shanawas were arrested. With this, all the accused in the important attack cases that took place in Kottayam on the hartal day were arrested.

Two people were also arrested in Wayanad. Two Popular Front activists were arrested in the case of vandalism of a KSRTC bus on a hartal day at Wayanad Panamaram 6th mile. Anas and Riaz, natives of Kundala, were arrested. The police had earlier arrested three people in the incident.

Perumbavoor police have arrested three people in a glass breaking case by stopping a KSRTC bus near the Perumbavoor wood market. Anas (37) of Perumbavoor Parappuram Karothukudi, Sheas (31) of Vallam Rayon Puram Vadakkekudi and Shamsudeen (35) of Vallam Rayonpuram Malayakudi were arrested. The glass of the bus going from Thrissur to Thiruvananthapuram was broken.
