A pregnant woman with critical bleeding in Phu Quoc did not survive

Even though doctors from the Phu Quoc City Health Center diligently treated her and many people came to donate blood, pregnant woman M could not survive.

On the afternoon of March 24, information from Phu Quoc City Health Center (Kien Giang) said that the family of HTM pregnant woman asked to take Ms. M home. Although the doctors diligently treated her, Ms. M’s condition was too critical, the bleeding could not be stopped, and her prognosis was poor. After being brought home, this afternoon (March 24) Ms. M passed away.

Ms. Dinh Thi Thanh Thuy, Member of the Standing Committee of the Poor Patients Sponsoring Association of Duong Dong Ward, Phu Quoc City, said that the Association has mobilized donations and received the help and support of many generous hearts. Through preliminary statistics, the amount of help for Ms. M is more than 60 million VND.

“I directly met and discussed with Ms. M’s family. After calculating the amount of money, I will return it to the family to pay for hospital bills as well as take care of Ms. M’s funeral. In addition, the car will take her M’s return (equipped with machines and a breathing bag on the car) was also supported by an individual doing charity work in Phu Quoc City,” Ms. Thuy said.

As reported, pregnant woman M (39 years old), temporarily residing in Phu Quoc City, was admitted to the hospital with bleeding placenta praevia. The pregnant woman was diagnosed with hemorrhagic shock due to placenta previa bleeding at 21 weeks of pregnancy. If not treated quickly by surgery, her life would be in danger.

Phu Quoc City Health Center quickly performed both a blood transfusion and surgery in the hope of stopping the bleeding where the placenta was attached to try to save the mother, but it was confirmed that the baby could not be kept because it was only 21 weeks old.

When the surgery was performed, the placenta was not bleeding properly, so we decided to have a partial hysterectomy, which was okay. However, due to previous blood loss, it led to blood clotting disorders.

In addition, another difficulty is that this pregnant woman has a rare blood type O+, so it is quite difficult to find someone with a compatible blood type for transfusion. The Health Center has also contacted and received support from many organizations and individuals to call for help. Called many people to come for blood tests.

Since last night (March 23), hundreds of people came overnight to test blood to get suitable blood for pregnant woman M.
