The slots for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which attract attention along with medals, are starting to fill up, and the good news is that Shino Matsuda is one of them!

El Salvador, which faces the South Pacific, continues to experience a south-southwest swell from the storm, with the official range of 6-8 feet.

The ISA World Surfing Games Surf City El Salvador 2023 will award the right to eight world class men and women from each of the four continents of Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania to compete at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

On this day, the 6th day of the tournament, 5 out of 8 people were confirmed.

First up is Shino Matsuda from Japan.

The 20-year-old girl, who is the only Japanese female surfer left in the main round, challenged La Bocana R4 against France’s Joan Defay and Nicaragua’s Candelaria Ressano.
He went to Repacharge in 3rd place, but finished 1st with Repacharge R6.
With this, she became the highest-rated female athlete in Asia and became the first Japanese to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

“I’m very proud to have qualified a year before the Olympics. teaupoo is a very difficult place, so I want to prepare for next year and hopefully catch some good waves.”

In the Men’s Refill, Taichi Wakita passed R6, which included Frederico Morais from Portugal and Joan Droux from France, in 1st place, but was eliminated in R7 in 4th place.

With this, Kanoa Igarashi, Reio Inaba, and Shino Matsuda remain.
By country, Japan has fallen from the previous day’s tie for first place to fourth place.

In addition to Shino Matsuda, it was confirmed when CT player Jordy Smith was eliminated in Teva Buschgaripa Charge R6 Morocco in the African frame.
In Jordy’s case, there is a possibility of qualifying from the CT frame, but first of all, I’m glad to win in WSG. Jordy, a veteran, withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics due to injury, so this is his first time participating in the Olympics.

“A warranty is always the best option. For me, it’s great to be able to qualify now. And it’s great to be in Teahupoor. I’ve been going there since I was 14, so I have a lot of experience. Naru Nature will collaborate with us and win the gold medal.”

If Jordy decides to qualify from the CT slot, this slot will go to the WSG 2023 runner-up surf, regardless of continent.

In the African frame, Sarah Baum from South Africa, the same as Jordy, won.
After failing to qualify for the CT several times in her late teens, she achieved the feat of becoming an Olympian at the age of 29.

“I’m so happy I have no words. It’s been an emotional week. I’ve finally achieved my goal. The whole team is together, the flags are everywhere, everyone’s screaming . It’s a dream come true. I’m so happy “I want to get into the barrel as soon as possible.”

Oceania slots were won by New Zealand’s Billy Stearmand and Safi Vetto.

This is Billy’s second appearance following the Tokyo Olympics.
“This is the second time, but it feels exactly the same as the first time. It’s been a long journey to get this right again.” he was talking excitedly.

Safi cuts through Repacharge R6 with a buzzer beat. Teammate Paige Haleb, who was competing for the Oceania slot, was unable to compete at her best with a knee injury in R3 and was eliminated in Repacharge R6, so she managed to get a place.

“Of course I’m excited, but I’m also scared. I’ve never been to Tahiti, but I’m ready and prepared.”

Participation in WSG 2024 is a condition for participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
