FilmGate and the Abu Dhabi Creative Media Authority (CMA) have forged a partnership aimed at significantly expanding film production in Abu Dhabi. The agreement stipulates that FilmGate will produce at least 15 projects in Abu Dhabi over the next five years.
A key component of this collaboration is the commitment to utilize local talent. At least 50% of the production crew will be drawn from within the CMA’s creative ecosystem, fostering growth and prospect within the local film industry.
The partnership also includes a comprehensive learning and progress program designed to nurture young Emirati creatives.This program features annual industry workshops led by FilmGate, focusing on specialized production skills. Additionally, four six-month paid internships will be offered each year, providing pathways to permanent employment in the media and film production sector.
Mohamed Dobay, acting director-general of the Creative Media Authority, emphasized the importance of such collaborations. He said establishing partnerships with local and regional production leaders is a key element of thier industry development strategy to make Abu Dhabi a global content hub.
Alongside attracting the major Hollywood and Bollywood productions, it is indeed critical that we support and increase the Arab content produced in Abu Dhabi to ensure we are building an ecosystem where Emirati and wider Arab narratives can thrive.

FilmGate will also benefit from the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s enhanced production rebate program. This program offers cashback incentives ranging from 35% to 50% for productions meeting specific criteria, further incentivizing film production in the region.
FilmGate, founded by Emirati filmmaker Mansoor Al Yahbouni Al Dhaheri, brings extensive experience to the partnership. Al Dhaheri’s work has been showcased at numerous international film festivals. His notable projects include “Little Sparta” (2016),”The Platform” (3 seasons),”Swim 62″ (2023),and “The Misfits” (2021).
It is a meaningful year for Abu Dhabi with the new rebate for production starting January 1 and a partnership of this nature with Creative Media Authority will allow us to maximise all that Abu dhabi offers in terms of filming locations, creative infrastructure, talent and financial support to produce more content than ever before.
