Actor Lee Byung-chul of ‘Peppermint Candy’ and ‘Father’ dies

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Myung-eon Oh = Actor Lee Byung-cheol, who appeared in the films ‘Peppermint Candy’ and ‘Abuji’, died on the 18th. 73 years old.

According to the talent branch of the Korean Broadcast Actors Union on the 18th, the deceased died on the same day after a battle with a cerebral hemorrhage.

Lee Byung-chul was born in 1949, and appeared in the dramas ‘Bong Seon-hwa’ (1984), ‘Three Men, Three Women’ (1996), and ‘Three Friends’ (2000), and was loved for his smile warm and warm image.

He also appeared as a detective in the hit film ‘Peppermint Candy’ (1999) and as a principal in ‘Abuji’ (2009).

The deceased, who suddenly stopped broadcasting after 2005, appeared on KBS 2TV’s ‘Relaxing Man’ in 2010 and told the story of how he has been looking after his wife, who has been disabled due to a haemorrhage on the brain for 6 years.

Then, in 2016, he appeared on EBS’s ‘Real Theatre-Happiness’ with his son Lee Hang-beom, a former professional basketball player, and showed his efforts to restore the father-son relationship that had been estranged for 10 years after for his wife to fall.

The mortuary is Room 2 of Our Lady’s Funeral Home in Yeouido, Seoul. 20th birthday at 3:30pm.
