Adobe Firefly Debuts Mobile App for AI-Powered Content Creation

Adobe has broadened its Adobe Firefly generative AI platform with a new mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. The Firefly app allows users to generate and edit images and videos using AI while on the go.
The mobile app integrates with Adobe’s creative Cloud, enabling users to start projects on their phones and continue them on the web or desktop applications like Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Adobe also introduced Firefly Boards, now in public beta, to enhance how creative teams collaborate using AI-driven moodboarding, complete with video and image editing capabilities.
The Firefly app lets creators produce assets across different media types and experiment with various AI models.Users can generate images in specific styles, edit assets by removing or adding objects, and transform images into videos, all within the app. Features include Style Reference, Structure Reference, Generative Expand, Generative Remove, and Generative Fill.
According to Ely Greenfield, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Adobe, the goal is to provide creators with a comprehensive destination to access the best generative models across the industry. “Creators continue to impress us with the breadth and artistry of the images, videos, graphics and designs they’re dreaming up in the Firefly app using models from both Adobe and our partners,” Greenfield said.
Firefly Mobile App Features
The Firefly mobile app allows users to generate images and videos from text prompts, transform images into videos, and add or remove objects using Generative Fill. It supports Adobe’s Firefly family of generative AI models, OpenAI’s image generation, and Google’s Imagen and Veo models. Content created in Firefly automatically syncs with Creative Cloud.
Firefly complements Adobe’s existing mobile apps like Photoshop, Lightroom, and Adobe Express, allowing creators to produce professional-grade content for social media, presentations, and print.
Firefly Boards Enhances Team Collaboration
Firefly Boards, now in public beta, enables creative teams to explore and collaborate on concepts using multiple media formats. The addition of video to Firefly Boards’ AI-powered moodboarding surface allows professionals to remix video clips and generate new footage using Adobe’s Firefly Video Model, Google’s Veo 3, Luma AI’s Ray2, and Pika 2.2 text-to-video.
Teams can also use AI capabilities to edit images using conversational text prompts, leveraging Black forest Labs’ Flux.1 kontext and openai’s image generation.
Expanding AI Model Ecosystem
Adobe has expanded its Firefly generative AI ecosystem by integrating models from partners like Ideogram, Luma AI, Pika, and Runway, alongside existing models from OpenAI, Google, and Black Forest Labs. This provides creators with flexibility to explore diverse aesthetic styles and media types. These models are launching first in Firefly Boards and will soon be accessible across the Firefly app.
To ensure transparency,Firefly automatically attaches Content Credentials to AI-generated content,indicating whether Adobe Firefly models or partner models were used.
Firefly momentum
Creatives worldwide have used Firefly’s generative AI models to create more than 24 billion assets.Traffic to Firefly grew over 30% quarter over quarter,and paid subscriptions nearly doubled in the same period. Firefly continues to attract new users to the Adobe ecosystem, with first-time subscribers growing 30% quarter over quarter.

The Firefly mobile app is available on iOS and Android via the App Store and Google Play Store. Firefly boards is available in beta on the firefly web app.The Firefly web and mobile apps and all its latest features are also available as part of the creative Cloud Pro plan.
