Alternative rock band Adonis returned to the Roman Baths in Zouk Mikael for a high-energy concert, marking their first performance in Lebanon in over a year.
The group opened the evening with their track Helmit
and delivered live renditions of their catalog alongside their newly released single, Ala Dawri.
Speaking with Annahar, Anthony Adonis and guitarist Joy Abou Jaoudeh discussed the emotional weight of returning to a domestic stage after a prolonged absence.
The Energy of the Lebanese Crowd
According to Anthony Adonis, the Lebanese audience remains a uniquely anticipated presence that the band looks forward to connecting with.
Describing the backstage routine, he noted that the moments before going live involve intense preparation rather than standard stage fright, explaining that the mind works overtime to check every detail. Guitarist Joy Abou Jaoudeh added that the most rewarding part of performing live is watching the crowd sing along, noting that audiences arrive driven by passion to temporarily set aside daily challenges.
Reviving a Track for Hiba Tawaji
The concert served as a live testing ground for Ala Dawri,
which dropped just days prior to the event.
Another focal point of the set was the track Habibi Khas,
a song Anthony Adonis originally wrote and composed years ago for Hiba Tawaji. Adonis revived the track, reshaping it with a rock arrangement to match the band’s signature sonic identity.
Touring Jeddah, Riyadh, and Baghdad
Following their performance in Zouk Mikael, Adonis is preparing for their debut concert in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The upcoming itinerary also includes stops in Riyadh, Egypt, and Baghdad.
For Anthony Adonis, the Jeddah date carries personal significance due to a period of his life spent living in Saudi Arabia, though he has never visited Jeddah itself. He noted that Saudi audiences bring remarkable energy to live shows, arriving deeply familiar with the music and specific lyrical phrases.
Collaborations and the New Studio Album
The touring schedule aligns with broader production plans. The band is currently working on a new studio album featuring a large collection of tracks.
Anthony Adonis revealed that the upcoming project will center heavily on collaborations and duets, incorporating several artists who are new to the Adonis catalog. The color red has served as a central visual theme during the rollout, tying directly into the aesthetic of the forthcoming album.
