Doha: Qatar is preparing to host another football festival before the excitement of the World Cup football held in the month of November-December. Along with three other countries, Qatar has volunteered to host the 2023 Asia Cup football. Other countries that have approached the Asian Football Confederation with interest in hosting are South Korea, Australia and Indonesia.
AFC started trying for a new venue when China, which was announced as the host earlier, withdrew. The time to submit the bid application is till August 31. The AFC Executive Council meeting on October 17 will decide the venue.
The Asia Cup was decided to be held in China in the month of June-July next year. However, China was retreating in the background of the spread of Covid.
It is not a challenge for Qatar, which is preparing for the World Cup with eight stadiums and all the facilities, to prepare a stage for Asia Cup football in which 24 teams are participating. The fact that all the basic facilities are ready is what prompts Qatar to host another fair.
