Fulham coach Marco Silva expressed disappointment after his side lost 16-15 to Preston North End in the longest penalty shootout in English League Cup history. The match ended in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
Silva made 11 changes to the starting lineup for the match, but his side squandered several chances despite scoring 16 attempts against Preston, who scored just seven. Silva was frustrated after the match, stating that his team should have won in regular time.
“I’m sure we did enough throughout the 95 minutes to win the match,” Silva told reporters. “From the first minute, we controlled the match and created enough chances. We played a lot of crosses and had a lot of chances to score.”
Fulham, who have drawn their last two Premier League matches 1-1, will host Newcastle United on Saturday.
