India Launches Probe into air India Crash, Examining Safety Role
Following the devastating crash of Air India Flight AI171, the Ministry of Civil Aviation announced Saturday the formation of a high-level, multi-disciplinary committee. The committee will investigate the tragedy that claimed at least 265 lives. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, en route from Ahmedabad to London’s gatwick Airport, crashed shortly after takeoff on June 12.

Flight AI171 carried 230 passengers, including 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, and one Canadian, along with 12 crew members. Only one person survived the crash.
