Allegheny Health Network (AHN) is investing $6.2 million to expand services at two Pennsylvania hospitals, aiming to better serve patients in its eastern region. The initiative focuses on enhancing inpatient rehabilitation services and increasing medical-surgical bed capacity.
AHN Allegheny valley Hospital (AVH) in Natrona Heights will develop a 29-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit, slated to begin next month and conclude by year’s end. This unit will incorporate advanced rehabilitation technology, building upon AVH’s existing Traumatic Brain Injury program. The hospital’s progressive care unit will move to the first floor to accommodate this expansion.
Meanwhile, AHN Forbes Hospital in Monroeville will convert its former inpatient rehabilitation unit into 20 new medical-surgical beds. This expansion addresses the rising demand for acute medical and surgical care, intending to improve patient flow, shorten wait times, and enhance the overall patient experience, particularly following emergency care.
