SEOUL – Football player Ahn Jung-hwan expressed his positive reaction to Spanish cuisine during a recent episode of Channel A’s “Line Family.”
The episode, which aired on the 3rd at 8:10 p.m., featured the ’Brazilian Family’ – Carlos and Gu Hye-won – as they explored Madrid, Spain.

As public relations ambassadors for ‘Jikji Simple,’ the family aimed to showcase various aspects of Korean culture to the Spanish audience.
They described Madrid as “the capital of Spain, the center of political, culture, and art, and the second largest city in the European Union.”
Carlos noted the safety of Madrid compared to Rio de Janeiro,stating,”The most envious thing about Rio de Janeiro is that the security is fine,so there are a lot of people in restaurants and pubs at dawn.” Ahn Jung-hwan humorously countered that he prefers to sleep at night.
Exploring Madrid’s Streets and Flavors
the ‘Brazilian Family’ strolled through Madrid, highlighting the presence of Korean restaurants with signs advertising “Sawmac” (soju and beer), demonstrating the growing popularity of Korean culture.
In Madrid’s equivalent of Times Square,they spotted a billboard advertising the ‘BLACKPINK’ World Tour,further emphasizing the global reach of K-pop.
“If you have seen a lot of billboards related to large companies, you can see a lot of advertisements of K -pop singers these days, so you can feel the power of Korean culture,” they observed.
The family also visited a store selling K-pop albums,inquiring about the most popular K-pop artists among locals.
Sampling Spanish Cuisine
A stop at mercado de San Miguel, a renowned gourmet market in Madrid, provided an opportunity to sample local delicacies.
They tasted “Hilda,” a Spanish snack featuring olives, anchovies, and pickled red peppers, and compared “Morciya” to Korea’s “Sundae” (blood sausage).
Comparing Spanish and Korean snacks, they said, ”If there is a ‘Sogaksokok (rice cake skewer with sausage)’, Spain has a ‘gate gate (octopus with potatoes)’.”
Ahn Jung-hwan, after tasting the octopus skewers with potatoes, remarked, “It’s flavorful. We really like it.”
K-Culture Event and Korean Refreshments
The ‘Brazilian Family’ attended a major K-culture event during their Madrid visit. attendees were treated to refreshments brought directly from Korea.
