Sole Survivor Recounts Miraculous Escape From Air India Plane crash

Vishwaskumar Ramesh, the only survivor of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, india, described his ordeal as a miracle. The crash, which occurred shortly after takeoff and involved a London-bound flight, killed all 241 other passengers and crew, along with five people on the ground.
Ramesh, recovering in a hospital, recounted the harrowing experience. He was seated on the side of the plane that crashed into a building. After the door broke upon impact, he saw an opening and jumped to safety.
The Air India airliner,a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner,was carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members. It crashed into a medical college and hospital shortly after takeoff on Thursday, killing 246, according to officials.Among the victims were five medical students inside the building. Many others inside the building were injured and are receiving treatment.
His brother,Nayankumar Ramesh,called Vishwaskumar’s survival a “miracle.” He recounted his brother’s disbelief and shock after the plane crash.

The Boeing Dreamliner had logged over 41,000 flight hours, considered average for this type of aircraft, according to Cirium, an aviation analytics firm. The crash occurred in the Meghaninagar area near Ahmedabad airport, according to Police Commissioner G.S. Malik.
“Everything happened in front of my eyes. I thought I would die,” Ramesh told NDTV. “The side where I was seated fell into the ground floor of the building… I don’t know how I came out of it alive. For a while, I thought I was about to die.”
“He said,’Our plane’s crashed,I don’t know where my brother is. I don’t see any other passengers. I don’t know how I’m alive, how I exited the plane,” Nayankumar ramesh told ABC News.
What’s next
An investigation led by India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is underway to determine the cause of the crash. Boeing has offered its full support to the investigation.
