The most recent AirPods models can now function as a remote control for the iPhone and iPad camera app,and also compatible third-party apps. A long press on the AirPods stem will start or stop video recordings and capture photos.
apple is also updating the audio recording capabilities, touting “studio-quality audio recordings” for podcasters, interviewers, and singers. The company says the H2 chip, beamforming microphones, and computational audio will provide more natural vocal texture and clarity during calls and recordings across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
The new audio features will support the camera app, Voice Memos, dictation in Messages, video conferencing apps like Webex, and compatible third-party camera apps.
The upcoming iPadOS 26 will include a Local Capture feature designed to work seamlessly with AirPods Pro. This feature offers echo cancellation, isolating the primary voice and saving individual files for easy sharing after video podcasts and other recordings.
