Maharashtra Deputy Chief minister eknath Shinde addressed the death of his cabinet colleague, Ajit Pawar, on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, stating that the cause of the aircraft crash that killed Pawar and four others is under examination. Shinde urged against the spread of rumors or speculation surrounding the incident.
shinde, who leads the Shiv Sena, described Pawar as an “elder brother” and acknowledged their long-standing professional relationship, including Pawar’s service as his deputy from 2022 to 2024.He characterized the event as a “very painful” and ”unfortunate” loss for Maharashtra.
Investigation into Aircraft Crash
A thorough inquiry will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the crash. According to Shinde, the investigation will encompass the roles of the airline company involved, relevant government agencies, technical experts, the aircraft captain, and any other related officials.
Shinde cautioned against politicizing the tragedy or making unsubstantiated allegations of conspiracy while the inquiry is underway. He made these remarks following a visit to Baramati.
