As kickoff approaches for the top-10 SEC showdown between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs, Hurricane Isaias threatens the game day schedule. The storm is set to make landfall around the Alabama gulf coast Friday night, bringing a tropical storm warning to the city of Tuscaloosa as forecasters track its path.
Hurricane Isaias May Bring Rain to Tuscaloosa
According to Friday afternoon updates from James Spann of the Alabama Weather Network, Hurricane Isaias is expected to move through the Tuscaloosa area on Saturday afternoon as either a tropical storm or tropical depression. While the heaviest rain and wind will likely have moved past Tuscaloosa by the evening, The Weather Channel forecasts cloudy skies, temperatures in the mid-60s, winds around 10 miles per hour, and a small chance of showers at kickoff.
The severe weather has already forced schedule changes off the field. ESPN’s College GameDay
will move indoors in Tuscaloosa on Saturday morning, broadcasting live from inside Coleman Coliseum from 9-12 a.m. ET.
Kickoff Remains Scheduled for Bryant-Denny Stadium
Despite the incoming weather, the 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff remains scheduled for Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium, with a live television broadcast on ABC. So far, the SEC has stated that it is monitoring the situation, but no plans have been made to alter the start time or location of the game.

Moving the game to an alternate location like Atlanta is likely not an option. Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium is occupied with a Major League Soccer match on Saturday and an NFL game on Sunday night.
