Alcon is showcasing its latest advancements across cataract surgery, retina, glaucoma, and dry eye disease at the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting, which runs from October 10 to 12, 2026, in New Orleans. The company is anchoring its exhibit around the Unity surgical platform and the newly introduced Unity M ophthalmic microscope.
Alcon Demonstrates Unity Surgical Platforms and Microscope
The Unity platform serves as a primary centerpiece of the exhibit, featuring two distinct configurations for attendees to explore. Visitors can participate in hands-on demonstrations of the Unity VCS combined console and the Unity CS standalone cataract system. Alcon is also highlighting the Unity M ophthalmic microscope, a device engineered to deliver precise control for surgeons during procedures.
Both systems are intended to optimize surgical visualization, enhance workflow efficiency, and support overall performance. Company representatives are conducting one-on-one discussions and product demonstrations at booth 1519 throughout the duration of the meeting.
Clareon Portfolio Expands Cataract Offerings
Within its cataract surgery portfolio, Alcon is highlighting the Clareon PanOptix Pro, which represents the newest addition to its trifocal intraocular lens lineup. The company is also featuring Clareon TruPlus IOLs, serving as its next-generation monofocal and toric lens platform. According to corporate statements, the platform is designed to build upon the performance of the existing Clareon family of products.
Valeda Targets Early and Intermediate Dry AMD
For retina specialists attending the conference, Alcon is demonstrating the Valeda photobiomodulation system. The technology is FDA-authorized for treating patients diagnosed with early and intermediate dry age-related macular degeneration. The noninvasive system delivers specific wavelengths of light to ocular tissue, and dedicated demonstrations are scheduled throughout the meeting.
Voyager DSLT and Tryptyr Additions
Alcon is showcasing the Voyager DSLT system as part of its glaucoma portfolio. The automated device utilizes SureTrac eye-tracking technology to deliver laser pulses through the limbus to the trabecular meshwork, with the company positioning it as a first-line treatment option for glaucoma patients. In dry eye disease, Alcon is featuring Tryptyr, an acoltremon ophthalmic solution formulated at 0.003 percent. Tryptyr functions as a neuromodulator eye drop intended to stimulate natural tear production, with the company noting that the therapy can increase tear production starting on the first day of treatment.
“At AAO 2026, Alcon will demonstrate how innovation is redefining what’s possible in eye care,” Sergio Duplan, president of the Americas at Alcon, said in a statement. “Attendees will experience firsthand how our portfolio is helping shape the future of eye care through technologies and clinical solutions that support eye care professionals every day.”
