Thomas finished the season with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets, helping secure both the Pacific Coast League championship and the Triple-A National Championship on Sunday. During the National Championship Game, Thomas delivered a notable performance by hitting a bases-loaded double in the 10th inning. Across 68 games with Oklahoma City, he recorded a .305/.378/.537 slash line with 11 home runs, 51 RBIs, and a .915 OPS, alongside 20 doubles, five triples, and eight stolen bases.

Because Thomas was not on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster at the conclusion of the minor league campaign, he held the right to immediately elect free agency. His decision to test the open market follows a sequence of roster moves by Los Angeles earlier in September.

Limited Major League Stint with the Dodgers

Thomas spent the early portion of the 2026 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks before being designated for assignment in May and traded to the Dodgers in exchange for minor league outfielder Jose Requena. When acquiring the outfielder, Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman expressed optimism about unlocking offensive adjustments.

A lot of the swing components have looked the same for a long, extended period of time, and we feel like there are some levers in there to partner with him and potentially unlock a little bit more, Friedman told the Los Angeles Times in May. But even as is, we feel like he’s a good extra outfielder, with the upside for even more than that.

Following an injury to Andy Pages, Thomas joined the major league roster in late August. He made an immediate impact by collecting RBI singles in each of his first three contests, but finished his seven-game MLB stint with the Dodgers batting .211 with one double, three RBIs, and four strikeouts. Los Angeles optioned him on September 1 and designated him for assignment on September 5 to clear a 40-man roster spot for Bobby Miller. Thomas cleared waivers and reported back to Oklahoma City to finish out the minor league postseason.

Reflections on the Los Angeles Organization

Despite missing out on the Dodgers’ postseason roster, Thomas expressed appreciation for his time with the organization and his teammates in Oklahoma City when speaking with Leif Skodnick of the World Baseball Network.

For me, honestly, like, I’m very proud of myself to go through all the things that I went through and, you know, to finish on a high note and the Dodgers helped me a lot with things I needed to work on, Thomas said after the game. And, you know, I’m very blessed to be with this team and go through the things I’ve been through this season.

Now 26 years old, the center fielder enters the winter market as a plus-defender at a premium defensive position, with potential suitors evaluating the mechanical changes introduced during his tenure with the Dodgers.
