The PT candidate for mayor of Atoyac, on the Costa Grande of the state of Guerrero, Alfredo González Díaz, was shot to death this Sunday afternoon, reported the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).
Through a statement, The FGE reported that around 3 in the afternoon, when González Díaz was traveling in a vehicle on Juan Álvarez Boulevard in the municipal seat of Atoyac, he was murdered by a “firearm” and an investigation file for homicide was opened.
There are 20 politicians and candidates murdered so far in the electoral process
During the last 4 months, the homicide of several applicants or candidates has been reported in different parts of the country, adding numbers to the country’s violence rates.
December 23 Jaime Damaso Solís, candidate for mayor of Zitlala in Guerrero Miguel Ángel Cruz Robles, who was seeking the candidacy for the municipal Presidency of Villa del Carbón in the State of Mexico for Morena. Wilman Monje Morales, former mayor of the municipality of Gutiérrez Zamora, Veracruz, and candidate for local council for MC Alejandro Lanuza Hernández, PAN councilor of Salvatierra who sought to be a candidate for the Municipal Presidency Javier Torres Barrera, former PAN candidate for mayor of Chiautla de Tapia in Puebla and was seeking the municipal presidency Dagoberto García, candidate for the candidacy for the municipal presidency of Maravatío Rivera for Morena Ricardo Taja Ramírez, candidate for mayor of Acapulco, Guerrero for Morena. He was murdered in a pozolería in the Diamante area of Acapulco. January 24
Thursday 4. Giovanni Lezama Barrera, general secretary of the PAN in Morelos, was shot to death inside a gym in the municipality of Cuautla, Morelos, where he served as councilor and was lined up to run for a federal deputyship.
Friday the 5th. David Rey González Moreno, candidate for the municipal presidency of Suchiate, Chiapas, for the Broad Front for Mexico. He was murdered when he was riding a motorcycle in the border area with Guatemala.
Friday the 5th. Sergio Hueso, candidate for the Citizen Movement (MC) candidacy for mayor of Armería, Colima. He was shot to death by several individuals.
Thursday 11. Miriam Nohemí Ríos Ríos, leader of the Citizen Movement (MC) in the municipality of Jacona, Michoacán. She was shot to death in the municipality of Zamora when she was tending her hat stand.
Wednesday 24. Marcelino Ruíz Esteban, former PRD mayor of Atlixtac, Guerrero aspired to be the PRD candidate for mayor of Atlixtac. In the same attack, his wife Guadalupe Guzmán Cano, state advisor of the Aztec sun, was murdered. Both were ambushed on the Chilapa-Tlapa federal highway.
Saturday 27. José Alejandro Naredo García, the leader of the PRD in the Veracruz municipality of Cuitláhuac, was shot dead in the street. February 24
Thursday 1. Jaime Vera, PVEM pre-candidate for mayor of Mascota, Jalisco, was murdered in the municipality of Zapopan.
Wednesday 7. Juan Pérez Guardado, Secretary of Social Development of the municipality of Fresnillo, Zacatecas, was murdered. The man was also the brother-in-law of Senator Ricardo Monreal.
Wednesday 7. The coordinator of the Citizen Movement (MC) in Guerrero, Julián López Galeana, was deprived of his freedom on the Sol highway, near Chilpancingo, Guerrero, along with two other members of the party. They beat him and then he was released. They point out “mistakes” by the aggressors.
Saturday 10. Yair Martín Romero Segura, candidate for federal deputyship for Morena, was murdered along with his brother in Ecatepec in an alleged armed attack.
Monday 26. Miguel Ángel Zavala Reyes, Morena’s candidate for mayor of Maravatío, Michoacán.
