Dr. Ali Jumaa, the former Mufti of the Republic and a member of the Council of Senior Scholars, revealed the stages of contentment and submission entering the heart of a Muslim.

Jumaa explained, on his official Facebook page, that contentment and submission enter the heart in three stages, saying:

The first stage: It is a stage in which he submits to God’s command, and resists himself from objection and sadness. He is sad, but he prevents himself from objecting to God’s command. He also cries day and night over the loss of a child, for example, but his heart is still with the wisdom of God Almighty.

The second stage: He does not grieve. If a son of his died or a calamity befalls him, he would be calm and smiling and would not cry, and the reason is certainty in God’s kindness and wisdom.

The third stage: He cries, because he remembers in himself that God has lost this dear one to him now in order for him to cry. He is not crying out of sadness, but rather he is crying for God, and this is the one who held the position of prophethood and the greatest saints. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, lost his son Ibrahim, he cried, and in another hadith on the authority of Usama bin Zaid, he said: The daughter of the Prophet, peace and blessings of God be upon him, sent to him that a son of mine had died, so he came to us. So he sent a greeting and said: “Indeed, to Allah belongs what He takes and to Him is what He gives, and everything with Allah has an appointed term, so be patient and seek reward.” So she sent an oath to him that he would come to her, so he stood up and with him were Saad bin Ubadah, Muadh bin Jabal, Ubayy bin Ka’b, Zayd bin Thabit, and men from F The boy was taken to the Messenger of God – may God bless him and grant him peace – and his soul was rattling – agitated – and his eyes welled up. Saad said: O Messenger of God, what is this? He said: “This is a mercy that God places in the hearts of His servants, and God only shows mercy from those of His servants who are merciful.”

Our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is crying. But he cries because God has decreed that those who suffer a calamity should cry.

The first is crying in sadness, the second is calm in contentment, and the third is crying again out of compulsion under the authority of God Almighty, and in response to the requirements of what the Truth has decreed in this specific time of circumstances. It is as if God wanted me to be sad now, so I am sad because of that. It is the most perfect station for the eternal Master, peace and blessings be upon him.
