Alienware’s new curved QD-OLED gaming screen is thinner and cheaper – Engadget

Dell

Alienware has released a new QD-OLED curved gaming screen, model number AW3423DWF. It is similar to the previous generation in terms of technical specifications. Both are 34 inches in size and have a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440. With Freesync Premium Pro and VESA AdaptiveSync Display support, the native refresh rate can reach 165Hz. AW3423DWF also provides 120Hz variable refresh rate support, making it compatible with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Unlike the previous generation, its overall thickness is slightly thinner, making it easier to install on a wall, and at the same time its price has dropped from US$1,300 to US$1,100. This makes it very good value for a large OLED screen, and the only direct competitor is probably the Samsung OLED G8, whose price is currently unknown.

In addition to the gaming screen, Alienware also brought a new generation of the Aurora R15 desktop. This is one of the first branded PCs to get an optional RTX 4090 and Intel 13th Gen Core i, with some minor cooling improvements. This includes replacing the 120mm heatsink in the water-cooled version with a 240mm one, and models with 13th Gen Core i K series processors will feature up to five 120mm fans. In addition, it has honeycomb-shaped vents on the side to introduce additional airflow. For the RTX 4090 graphics card, the Aurora R15 adjusts the location of the motherboard’s PCIe x16 slot so that it can be inserted into three high-slot graphics cards, and also increases its power supply from 1,000W to 1,350W, prepare on for more power-hungry graphics cards.
