AHN Appoints Digital Health Leader
Richard Medford, MD, has been appointed chief digital information officer of Allegheny Health Network (AHN), a Pittsburgh-based healthcare system. The announcement was made on August 25, 2023, via an AHN press release.
Dr. Medford brings extensive experience in digital health and informatics. He previously served as chief medical informatics and digital health officer at ECU Health in Greenville, North Carolina, and held informatics leadership positions at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.
notably, Dr. Medford is the first U.S. physician to achieve both fellowship training and board certification in clinical informatics and infectious diseases.
Joining Existing Leadership
Dr. Medford joins Alistair Erskine, MD, who was appointed chief information digital officer of Highmark Health, AHN’s parent system, in July 2023, according to Becker’s Hospital Review. He will also work alongside John Gabrick, vice president of clinical information systems, digital and virtual health at AHN, which operates 14 hospitals.
Focus on Data and Innovation
AHN President Mark Sevco highlighted Dr.Medford’s expertise in leveraging data and informatics to improve healthcare delivery.
