Allegiant Air plans a Florida expansion, scheduling a median of 224 daily round-trip services involving the Sunshine State between June and September 2026, according to schedule submissions to OAG. The ultra-low-cost carrier will dedicate 61% of its total flights to, from, or within Florida across 12 airports, utilizing older aircraft to target high-demand days of the week without heavy discounting.
Florida Schedule Scope And Route Additions
Between June and September 2026, Allegiant plans a total of 26,060 flights touching Florida, representing a slight drop of half a percentage point from 26,200 services during the same period in the previous year. The carrier’s Florida network comprises 282 routes, with 280 interstate connections and two intrastate flights, drawing departures from 78 airports outside the state. Cincinnati leads all outbound points, followed by Asheville, Knoxville, Allentown, and Belleville for Greater St. Louis. Comparing the network against the same months in 2025 reveals 27 added routes, including 11 that launched or started last year and 16 introduced between January and June 2026. Three of these additions operated until April or May 2025, paused, and returned in October or November that same year. An examination of previous schedules shows that 13 of the 27 airport pairs have not been served by any airline before. Eight additional pairs last saw Allegiant service between 2008 and 2024, while others previously operated by carriers such as the now-defunct Spirit Airlines or Frontier Airlines have been absorbed into the network.
Market Position And Expansion Phasing
Allegiant ranks as Florida’s sixth-largest domestic operator, capturing almost 7% of all Florida-US flights. The airline maintained its share year-over-year despite the cessation of Spirit Airlines, while other operators like Breeze Airways, Frontier Airlines, and JetBlue expanded significantly following Spirit’s demise. Operational rollout dates vary by city and route. While Philly kicks off in October, flyers on the Columbia route must wait until November, and Boston flights to Sanford and St. Petersburg start. New network additions also feature cities like Columbia (Missouri) and La Cross, reflecting the airline’s continued focus on unserved or underserved small and medium-sized markets alongside lower-cost alternative airports.
