Allegri, Fiorentina & Pioli: Serie A Top 4 Update
Fiorentina Coach Pioli Vows to Prove Allegri Wrong on Top Four Hopes
Jakarta – AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has notably excluded Fiorentina from his list of contenders for a top-four finish in Serie A. However, new Fiorentina coach Stefano Pioli is resolute to use this oversight as motivation, aiming to prove the experienced Italian tactician wrong.
Allegri, speaking at a press conference in early July, outlined his predictions for the teams vying for Champions League qualification. His assessment included Napoli as favorites, alongside Inter Milan, Juventus, Atalanta, Roma, and Lazio. Crucially, the name “Fiorentina” was absent from his projected battle for the coveted top spots.
“The teams that are always at the top are Napoli, which is a favorite,Inter,Juventus, atalanta,Roma,Lazio. Entering the top four is not easy, that’s why it is important to work well,” Allegri had stated.
This omission has clearly struck a chord with Pioli, who was recently appointed as the new manager of La Viola. The former Al Nassr coach has embraced Allegri’s prediction as a powerful source of inspiration for his squad.
“This is not Pioli against Allegri or Conte. This will be Fiorentina against Napoli, Milan, and others,” Pioli declared, as reported by Football Italia. “We have a burning spirit. I could have survived in the previous place and became one of the 10 coaches with the highest paid.”
Pioli emphasized the need for his team to demonstrate their capabilities on the pitch. “If Fiorentina wants to be at the top, we must prove it. Allegri does not take into account us as a competitor for the Champions League. I have written it on the board,” he added, highlighting the motivational aspect of Allegri’s comments.
For context, Fiorentina concluded the 2024/2025 Serie A season in sixth place, finishing five points adrift of the top four. Simultaneously occurring, AC Milan ended the campaign in eighth position, missing out on European competition. Pioli’s spirited response suggests a clear intent to elevate Fiorentina’s status and challenge the established order in the upcoming season, fueled by the very doubt cast by a prominent figure like Allegri.
