Amazon Air to Establish Cargo Hub at Jacksonville International Airport
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Amazon Air has reached an agreement with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority to establish an air cargo hub at Jacksonville International Airport. Operations are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, according to our news partners at the Jacksonville Daily Record.
The company plans to lease the 50,000-square-foot Air Cargo Building Four at 14200 Pecan Park Road for package storage and processing, according to a news release issued today, February 2, 2026.
Launched in 2016, Amazon Air, formerly known as Prime Air, is the online retailer’s dedicated cargo airline. The service still uses the Prime Air branding on its planes, and logo. Its fleet includes Boeing 737s, 767s and Airbus A330s, serving more than 70 distribution centers nationwide.
“This location represents the company’s first air cargo location in Northeast Florida and will further grow and support Amazon’s current logistics and distribution network in Jacksonville,” the Jacksonville Aviation Authority said.
Currently, the nearest Amazon Air facility is in Tampa, where shipments are flown in and then trucked to Jacksonville.
Air Cargo Building Four previously housed tenants such as Emery Worldwide Airlines and Forward Air. Lease terms were not disclosed.
Expanding Amazon Presence in Jacksonville
Amazon already operates 12 facilities in Jacksonville, including fulfillment centers, sortation centers, a heavy bulk freight center and delivery stations. The company opened its first local fulfillment centers in 2017, supported by $26.7 million in city and state incentives tied to job creation.
In October 2024, Amazon opened a new 180,866-square-foot delivery center in Jacksonville, creating 100 new jobs. This facility is located at 450 General Doolittle Drive, at Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport. Road improvements, including synchronized traffic lights and expanded turn lanes, were implemented to manage increased traffic flow around the new center, and are scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2025.
A 100,000-square-foot Amazon delivery center also opened in Jacksonville in September 2025, adding dozens of full- and part-time jobs.
In addition to the Jacksonville area, Amazon is expanding its footprint on the Space Coast, having purchased 45 acres in Titusville near the Space Coast Regional Airport and Indian River in late January 2026.
Amazon also confirmed a second Jacksonville fulfillment center in an earlier announcement, adding 1,000 jobs to the 1,500 Amazon will create in the area.
Development of an Amazon last-mile distribution center at Jacksonville Executive at Craig Airport was “moving along quite rapidly” as of March 28, 2024.
