Amazon Cargo Plane Overruns Miami Runway
The Boeing cargo aircraft carried the Amazon logo on its tail. It departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and landed at the airport around 2:00 p.m. local time, the Federal Aviation Administration reported.
Impact on Northwest 42nd Avenue
According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the flight overran the airport’s diagonal runway. It then struck multiple vehicles on Northwest 42nd Avenue.
Images from the scene shared by NBC Miami showed the branded aircraft resting precariously close to a building while thick, heavy smoke billowed into the air. When emergency crews arrived, the plane was engulfed in flames.
Massive Emergency Response and Injuries
The crash prompted a response from more than 60 firefighters deployed to battle the blaze. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed that there are multiple patients injured as a result of the collision.
