Amazon has made its Quick desktop assistant generally available on macOS and Windows, pitching the software to enterprise IT departments as a governed alternative to shadow AI.

Desktop Availability and Cloud-Based Agents

Initially released in preview in April, the Amazon Quick desktop app is now fully available on Windows and macOS. According to GeekWire, Amazon built the desktop application through an internal initiative utilizing small engineering teams, moving from a late-January start date to an April 28 release under AWS vice president of agentic AI Swami Sivasubramanian.

The software update introduces cloud-based agents that continue running even after a user closes their laptop, delivering results directly back to the user’s feed. Furthermore, the desktop and mobile applications now synchronize automatically, allowing workers to pick up tasks seamlessly between devices.

Mobile Activity Feed and Enterprise Integrations

Amazon is expanding Quick’s signature feature, the Activity Feed, from the desktop app to mobile devices on iOS and Android. GeekWire reports that the feed aggregates email, Slack messages, calendar invites, and CRM updates into a single prioritized list, enabling users to open and respond to items without switching between multiple apps.

The assistant is designed to compete directly against tools like Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini, OpenAI, and Anthropic. Amazon’s official product announcements highlight several early business customers utilizing Quick, including Southwest Airlines, LabCorp, and the PGA Tour.

Regional Data Infrastructure and Pricing

For European enterprise customers, Quick operates within ordinary European AWS regions, keeping inference processing inside Europe, according to The Next Web. However, the service is not currently listed on the published service list for the sovereign cloud infrastructure Amazon opened in Brandenburg.

Pricing structures for Quick include a free tier alongside paid individual plans starting at $20 per user per month billed annually. Business plans range from $20 to $40 per user per month, according to GeekWire’s reporting on Amazon’s tiered service model.
