Online retailer Amazon has declined requests to remove books co-authored by Edward White, a convicted sex offender, leading two women to claim they have been retraumatised
by the platform’s decision.
The women, who cannot be named for legal reasons, are the subjects of the books, which detail their experiences with sexual abuse. They state they were duped
into the collaboration by White, who falsely represented himself as a journalist for the Sunday Times newspaper.
The controversy follows the 2025 conviction of White in Tullamore Circuit Court. White was found guilty on two counts of sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl and is currently serving a jail sentence of three and a half years.
White, who previously operated under the name John O’Loughlin, has a professional background as a sketch artist, writer, and former hypnotist. Before his name change, O’Loughlin had been the subject of complaints from women regarding his hypnosis stage shows.
Beyond his publishing activities, White maintained a significant presence on the social media platform X. Using the handle Editorialz, he amassed more than 20,000 followers and frequently posted content that included racism and personal attacks directed at Government ministers.
This is not the first time White’s publishing collaborations have faced scrutiny. In 2019, he co-authored a book with Hervé Jaubert, a former French spy, concerning efforts to free Princess Latifa of Dubai prior to a raid by Indian and Emirati special forces.
Jaubert eventually removed that book from sale. He clarified that White’s role in the project was primarily technical.
I had asked Edward White to edit my book, including English editing, grammar and spelling
