AMD radeon RX 9060 XT Targets entry-Level Gaming Market
Updated May 26, 2025
AMD unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, expanding its 9000 series GPU lineup. The gaming graphics card, joining the RX 9070 and 9070 XT, is set to launch on June 5. Despite being the entry-level option, the RX 9060 XT utilizes the same RDNA 4 architecture as its more powerful counterparts. It also incorporates FSR 4 resolution upscaling and frame generation, along with DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b support.
The Radeon RX 9060 XT will be available in two configurations: one with 8GB of VRAM and another with 16GB. Both versions feature 32 RDNA 4 compute units and clock speeds reaching up to 3.13 GHz. Power consumption ranges from 150W to 182W,varying based on the model’s VRAM and clock speed.
Pricing and Availability
AMD’s suggested retail price is $300 for the 8GB model and $350 for the 16GB version. However, AMD will not produce reference cards. Instead, manufacturers like Asus, Acer, and Gigabyte will release their own versions of the RX 9060 XT starting June 5. Performance, power draw, and pricing may vary among these models, particularly for overclocked versions. Some GPUs will adhere to reference clock speeds and MSRP, assuming tariffs do not affect prices.

The RX 9060 XT 16GB is positioned as the replacement for AMD’s RX 7600 XT, targeting nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5060 ($300) and RTX 5060 Ti (8GB for $380, 16GB for $429). AMD’s internal testing indicates the RX 9060 XT is approximately 6% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti in 40 games at 1440p,while being about $80 cheaper. These tests compare the RX 9060 XT 16GB to the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. The RX 9060 8GB model’s performance remains a question, as its smaller VRAM could impact performance.
Frank Azor, AMD’s Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Gaming Marketing, stated on X that most gamers use 1080p displays, for which 8GB of VRAM is sufficient. This statement addresses concerns about consumers assuming the RX 9060 XT 16GB’s performance advantage applies to all RX 9060 XT models. Actual performance will likely vary among the SKUs launching June 5.
Majority of gamers are still playing at 1080p and have no use for more than 8GB of memory. Most played games WW are mostly esports games. We wouldn’t build it if there wasn’t a market for it. If 8GB isn’t right for you then there’s 16GB.Same GPU, no compromise, just memory…
