American source: Russian missiles failed to repel strikes on Iran

The American Fox News quoted a high-ranking source as saying: “Russian-made air defense systems have proven ineffective in repelling Israeli strikes against Iran.

The source added, “The target of the Israeli strikes in Iran on Friday was a military base in Isfahan Province.”

He explained: “The Israelis hit what they intended to hit,” noting that “the targets within the operation included Iranian air defense systems among those used to protect its nuclear facilities.”

The source said that the Israeli army used “missiles and drones to carry out its operation” in its attack on Iran.

Iran possesses a number of S-300 missile units, which is a Russian-made long-range missile air defense system produced by Almaz Scientific Industries.

The system has several different versions, all of which were developed from the S-300P. The system was designed for the Russian Air Defense Forces to deter aircraft and cruise missiles, and other versions were later developed to deter ballistic missiles.

An Israeli launched an attack on Iran at dawn on Friday, in an operation that Hebrew media said was a response to a previous attack carried out by Tehran with dozens of marches and missiles last Saturday.

Sounds of explosions were heard at the Iranian army’s “Hashtam Shikari” base, northwest of Isfahan, on the morning of Friday, April 19, according to the “Iran International” channel website.

The mutual attack between Tehran and Israel was preceded by an air strike believed to be Israeli on the Iranian embassy compound in Damascus on April 1, which led to the killing of Revolutionary Guard officials.
