JEFFERSON, IA – The Alliance for Central Iowa Economic Development has officially welcomed Greene County into its growing network, marking a meaningful step forward in expanding economic development initiatives across the region. This new partnership aims to leverage the strengths of both organizations to foster growth, attract investment, and enhance the quality of life for Greene County residents.
Strategic Partnership for Regional Growth
Dan Culhane, President and CEO of The Alliance, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting Greene County’s vital role in the Central Iowa economy. “Greene County plays an important role in our regional economy, with strong community assets and a commitment to grow,” Culhane stated in a press release. “Its proximity to U.S. Highway 30 and alignment with our broader regional efforts make this partnership both strategic and timely.”
The partnership will see the Greene County Development Corporation (GCDC) working closely with The Alliance to bolster services and support for communities within Greene County. The Alliance will provide crucial administrative support and expertise in key areas such as workforce development, buisness retention and expansion, housing initiatives, communications, website development, and media support.
Amplifying Local Efforts Through Regional Collaboration
Michelle Book, interim executive director of the GCDC, emphasized the strategic advantage of joining forces. “Being a stand-alone county doesn’t make sense today when it comes to economic development,” Book commented. “GCDC is well positioned to use our recent success and momentum to boost local economic development efforts; joining a successful Alliance will amplify the impact.”
This sentiment was echoed by Greg Piklapp, Director of Economic Development and Outreach and Government Relations at The Alliance, who has been appointed as the new executive director of GCDC. “By working together regionally, we can amplify the strengths of our communities and create even more opportunities for growth, investment, and quality of life,” Piklapp said. He believes the partnership will build upon the existing momentum within Greene County.
Expanding The Alliance’s reach
The inclusion of Greene County expands The Alliance’s operational footprint to four counties, adding to its existing work in Boone, Hamilton, and Story counties. This expansion signifies a commitment to a more cohesive and impactful approach to economic development across Central Iowa.
Both the GCDC board and The Alliance board formally approved the partnership earlier this month, signaling a unified vision for the future of economic prosperity in the region.
