# BlumhouseS ‘Eyes of Hellfire’ Promises Gothic Horror and Betrayal for Friend Groups
Blumhouse Games is diving headfirst into the world of cooperative horror with their upcoming title, *Eyes of Hellfire*. This gothic horror experience is designed for groups of friends, promising a chilling adventure where trust is as fragile as a cobweb. Set to release on Windows PC in August, the game offers a unique blend of exploration, mystery, and the ever-present threat of betrayal.
## Unraveling the Mysteries of Blackwood Lodge
*Eyes of Hellfire* transports players to the eerie Blackwood Lodge,a place shrouded in darkness and secrets. As a group of friends, players will explore the lodge, uncovering it’s sinister history and confronting the malevolent forces that reside within. The core gameplay revolves around cooperation, with players needing to work together to solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and survive the horrors that await.
“It’s the gothic horror experience for a friends group where you explore a lodge, where not everything is as it seems,” explained Larkin, a representative for the game. “Including your friendships.” This sentiment hints at the game’s central mechanic: the potential for players to turn against each other.
## The Perilous Dance of Curses and Second Chances
One of the most intriguing aspects of *Eyes of Hellfire* is its dynamic curse system. Players can acquire curses, which frequently enough come with tempting benefits but also carry critically important risks. These curses can alter gameplay in unexpected ways, sometimes offering a “second chance” or a new ability, but always at a price.”Like, ‘Oh, do you want to get a new curse? Do you want to get a second chance?'” Larkin elaborated on the choices players might face. However, these seemingly favorable deals are not without result.
“But second chances and secret deals come at a price,” the game’s description warns. The payment for these deals is often “anti-team,” meaning the entire group suffers the repercussions. This creates a palpable sense of paranoia and suspicion among players.
“The payment for that kind of deal is usually anti-team, so you all pay,” Larkin explained. “So a lot of accusations and finger-pointing is [going] around: ‘Did you just take a deal? Is that why we all got knocked over?’ It’s that kind of cool, like, ‘Who did that?’ moment. When that payment pops up, there’s always discussion around who it was that has triggered that.” This mechanic ensures that every decision carries weight and can have far-reaching consequences for the group.
