Badminton women’s singles world number one An Se-young enters the World Badminton Federation World Tour Super 750 Denmark Open carrying a 56-1 individual match record for the current season, stnsports.co.kr reported. Having dropped just a single match across 57 total outings, An pursues her ninth and tenth career titles of the season during an upcoming European swing that runs through Denmark and France.
The Korean national team departed Incheon International Airport to contest the back-to-back tournaments. The delegation’s primary objective across the two stops is securing a pair of championship trophies, with An aiming to reach double figures in tournament victories for the year.
Denmark Open Opener Against Sindhu
Seeded first in Odense, An faces India’s Pusarla Venkata Sindhu in the opening 32-round match. An holds an unblemished 10-0 head-to-head record against the world number ten opponent across ten prior encounters. Victory in the opening fixture places the top seed toward a potential second-round meeting against either Malaysia’s Karupathevan Letshanaa or Denmark’s Line Christophersen.
Japan’s Tomoka Miyazaki sits in the quarterfinal bracket quadrant. Meanwhile, world number four Chen Yufei of China is absent from the tournament draw, though other elite contenders remain in contention for the latter rounds. A run to the final could pit An against world number two Wang Zhiyi of China or Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi.
Chasing Historic Season Win Totals
Capturing both the Denmark Open and the upcoming French Open would push An’s season trophy count to ten. Last year, An secured 11 tournament titles to match Kento Momota’s record for the most singles titles won in a single professional season across both men’s and women’s categories.

Capturing ten titles in Europe leaves the reigning world number one needing just one more victory to equal the shared benchmark and two to establish an outright new milestone.
Securing five victories in Denmark and five more in France would elevate An’s overall win-loss record to 66-1, lifting her seasonal win percentage from 98.25 percent to approximately 98.51 percent. Progression remains contingent upon navigating the opening test against Sindhu.
Men’s and Women’s Squad Updates
Men’s doubles world number one pairing Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae also travel to Europe seeking to recapture their championship form. The duo collected 11 titles together last season but has experienced a dry spell in recent international appearances following a bronze medal finish at the Asian Games.
Women’s doubles pair Lee So-hee and Baek Ha-na remain in South Korea to manage ongoing injuries, bypassing the European trip. The pair previously secured South Korea’s first women’s doubles gold medal at the Asian Games in 24 years and targets a return at the home Korea Open in November.
Additional national team members accompanying the squad include women’s singles player Sim Yu-jin, men’s doubles pair Kang Min-hyuk and Lee Jong-min, and mixed doubles tandem Kim Jae-hyun and Chang Ha-chung.
Action at the BWF World Tour Super 750 Denmark Open in Odense begins on October 13 and runs through October 18, with the French Open immediately following in Paris from October 20 to October 25.
