An “unexpected hero” takes Real Madrid to the Champions League final

Spanish substitute Joselu led his Real Madrid team to meet Dortmund in the Champions League final after scoring both of his team’s goals against Bayern Munich in the match that ended 2-1 on Wednesday.

The first leg in Germany ended in a 2-2 draw last week.

It seemed that Bayern was heading towards meeting its compatriot, benefiting from Canadian Alphonso Davis’s wonderful goal in the 68th minute, in contrast to the course of play, as Real Madrid controlled the match without any significant threat from the visitors.

9 minutes before the end, Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti brought in Spaniard Joselu, who was loaned from Espanyol, and the latter scored the equalizer in the 88th minute, taking advantage of a fatal mistake committed by German veteran Manuel Neuer.

In the first minute of stoppage time, Joselu diverted defender Antonio Rudiger’s cross into the net, announcing the arrival of the 14-time competition champion to the final match, which will be hosted by the British capital, London, early next month.
