19-Year-Old Fatally Shot by Police in Anaheim Following Confrontation
A 19-year-old man died late Saturday, December 7, 2025, after being shot by police during a stop in Anaheim, California. The incident occurred at approximately 9:32 p.m.in the 800 block of South Philadelphia Street.
According too Anaheim Police Department statements, two officers on patrol approached a group of over a dozen individuals when a confrontation ensued. This escalated into an exchange of gunfire, resulting in an officer shooting the 19-year-old, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The sequence of events – specifically, which party fired first – remains under investigation.
Twelve individuals were briefly detained following the shooting,but authorities reported no immediate arrests were made. The Anaheim Police Department noted that a large and “unruly crowd” gathered after the incident,necessitating the deployment of additional resources to ensure officer safety and maintain the integrity of the investigation.
during the crowd control efforts, one individual was struck with a less-lethal round and transported to a local hospital in stable condition. Officers involved in the incident sustained minor injuries, according to police reports. A firearm was recovered at the scene, and is being processed as evidence.
Given that an officer discharged their weapon, a multi-agency investigation is underway. This includes the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, Anaheim Police homicide detectives, the department’s Major Incident Review team, and Internal Affairs.
