The exploration of his relationships, especially with characters like Bix Caleen (Adria Arjona), has elevated Andor from a Rogue One character to a central figure in the Star Wars universe. Gilroy acknowledged the fan investment in a Cassian and Jyn romance, noting that a kiss was originally filmed but later cut. He said he was pleased the final edit was ambiguous.
Gilroy explained that the Cassian and Bix love story offers a more realistic portrayal of a long-term relationship. He noted that Cassian and Bix have a history predating the events of the show. “I mean, they’re both pretty sexually liberated in their way,” Gilroy said. “I think that first kiss they had, I think the first person they ever slept with is each other.”
