Following his dismissal, tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min lauded Ange Postecoglou as a “Tottenham Hotspur legend.” Despite securing Europa League glory, Postecoglou’s tenure ended abruptly, prompting concern from the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) regarding the club’s managerial instability.
postecoglou delivered Tottenham’s first trophy in 17 years with a Europa League victory over Manchester United. However, a disappointing Premier League campaign, where Tottenham finished 17th—their lowest since 1977—led to his departure. The club announced the managerial change Friday.
Son praised Postecoglou’s impact on the club. other players, including goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and defender Micky van de Ven,also expressed their gratitude.
Vicario, Postecoglou’s first signing, called him an “incredible person” and a “real leader.” Van de Ven thanked Postecoglou for believing in him from day one. Dominic Solanke, who joined Spurs last summer, also expressed his gratitude for the Europa League trophy.
Defender Pedro Porro said Postecoglou would “always be celebrated” for giving the club one of its greatest moments. Richarlison noted that Postecoglou “always bags trophies in his second season.”
The THST thanked Postecoglou but voiced concerns about another change in direction, hoping the next manager receives full support and financial backing to build a strong squad. they emphasized that fans “don’t want to wait another 17 years for more” glory.
Gaffer. You’ve changed the trajectory of this club. You believed in yourself, and us, since day one and never wavered for a second. Even when others did.
What’s next
Tottenham now begins the search for a new manager to build on the foundation laid by Postecoglou and continue their pursuit of sustained success in both domestic and European competitions. The club faces pressure to make a strategic appointment to satisfy fans eager for more trophies.
