Despite winning her third consecutive BET Sportswoman of the Year Award, Angel Reese remains focused on improving her WNBA performance and tuning out distractions.The award comes amid some controversy, wiht boxer Claressa Shields expressing her disappointment on X after losing to Reese at the BET Awards June 9.
Shields tweeted, questioning the selection process. However, Reese did not directly respond to Shields’ comments. Rather, she emphasized her commitment to growth and accountability on the court. “It’s great… I think it really meant something to peopel because it’s me,” Reese said of the BET honor. She also acknowledged her recent performance, stating, “I haven’t been playing well at all… I take accountability, try to be better than the last day.”
Reese stressed that she is blocking out distractions and criticism as she navigates her WNBA journey. “I don’t complain, I don’t care about anything else. I’m just hear to go to work every day and go home,” she said.
