Anne Burrell, the acclaimed chef and popular Food Network television host, has died at age 55, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Food Network and her family.details regarding the cause of death were not promptly available.
Burrell, a beloved figure in the culinary world, hosted “secrets of a Restaurant Chef” for nine seasons. she also hosted “Worst Cooks in America,” one of the Food Network’s most accomplished series.The Food Network lauded her remarkable culinary talent and her passion for sharing the importance of food.
Her family described her as a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother and friend whose smile brightened every room. They added that her warmth, spirit, and boundless love would remain eternal.

Beyond her hosting duties,the celebrity chef appeared on numerous cooking shows,including “Iron Chef America,” “Chopped,” and “Beat Bobby Flay.” Burrell graduated from Canisius College with a degree in English and communications before attending the Culinary Institute of America, where she graduated in 1996. She furthered her culinary education at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners.Upon returning to the U.S., she worked at Felidia Ristorante and later became chef at SoHo’s Savoy.
Before her television career, Burrell taught at the Institute of Culinary Education for more than three years.
Burrell authored “Cook Like a Rock Star,” a New York Times bestseller, and “Own Your Kitchen: Recipes to Inspire and Empower.”
The Food Network star was also a dedicated advocate for juvenile diabetes awareness, serving as a celebrity ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
