Anthony McHenry Signs Assistant Coaching Contract for the 2023-24 Season

We are delighted to announce that Anthony McHenry has officially signed a new assistant coaching contract for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Since retiring as an active player, I have had the privilege of contemplating my path ahead. Unbeknownst to me, fate would bring me back to Okinawa, where my extraordinary relationship with Japanese basketball was first established. To embark on this journey alongside the Kings organization, who played such a significant role in my previous accomplishments, is an immense honor. I am wholeheartedly committed to pursuing countless victories and successes in the future, while embracing the invaluable opportunity to learn from the finest players in the process. Go Kings!

McHenry has an outstanding basketball IQ from his playing days, and he has the mental strength and leadership to overcome numerous adverse situations. I hope that he will display these qualities in his position as an assistant coach in the future.

Finishing last season and retiring, I’ve had time to think about opportunities after playing. After leaving the court as a player, I never thought that my journey would come back here. This is where my experience with Japanese basketball began! I would like to thank the Kings organization for the opportunity to help continue the many years of winning and success. I am also looking forward to the opportunity to learn from some of the best. Go Kings!

After the season ended, I retired as an active player, and managed to make time to think about what to do after retirement. I never thought I would be back here in Okinawa after leaving the court as a player. Here in Okinawa is a special place where my experience with Japanese basketball began! I am very grateful to the Kings organization for giving me the opportunity to achieve many victories and successes in the future.
