Anti-government protests in Iran are a US conspiracy to create social chaos

“The US and Europe support the mobs with false encouragement”… Stick to a strong deterrence stance

The Iranian government has argued that the US plot to use tragic events to create social chaos in Iran was the background to the recent anti-government protests.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Khanani said in a statement on the 26th (local time) that “the United States has always sought to undermine Iran’s stability and security.”

In major Iranian cities, including the capital, Tehran, protests against the case of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini, who died suspiciously after being detained for not wearing a hijab, continued for the tenth day.

The protests move beyond the issue of freedom of dress, and turn into a movement to resign from the government, holding the leadership responsible for corruption, political oppression, and economic crisis.

State-run broadcaster IRIB said 41 people had been killed in clashes between protesters and police until the previous day.

The Europe-based Iranian Organization for Human Rights (IHR) said at least 57 people have been killed in the protests so far.

“Western politicians and media are using this tragic event to violate Iran’s sovereignty,” Kanani said.

Iran’s judiciary has warned that an investigation into Amini’s case is ongoing and that protesters who break the law will be severely punished.

Amini suddenly collapsed while being questioned at a police station in Tehran on the 16th, and was taken to a hospital, but eventually died.

The police explained that the cause of death was a heart attack, saying that no violence was used during the investigation, but the bereaved family denied that Amini had never suffered from heart disease.

The ‘Guidance Patrol’ (Gashte Ershad), which tackles behaviors against Islamic law, announced that Amini was under investigation for not wearing the hijab properly.
