iPhone 16e Enters Europe’s Top 10 Amid Pricing Concerns
Updated June 03, 2025
Apple’s iPhone 16e has landed in Europe’s top 10 smartphone list, marking a positive note for the company amid regulatory scrutiny. The newest iPhone 16 family member secured ninth place overall in March 2025, according to a recent report. This represents 8% of Apple’s iPhone sales and 2% of the total smartphone market in the region.
The iPhone 16e performed slightly better in Western Europe, achieving seventh place. Though, the report indicates that the iPhone 16e’s performance is somewhat weaker compared to previous mid-tier iPhone releases.

Specifically, the iPhone 16e’s debut sales were down 17% and 20% compared to the iPhone SE 2022 and SE 2020, respectively. The earlier SE models also achieved higher rankings and larger shares of Apple’s sales during their launch months.
Counterpoint analyst Jan Stryjak attributes the iPhone 16e’s performance to its price point.
“The relatively high price of the iPhone 16e compared to previous iPhone SE devices has limited sales in Europe. At €699 (429) launch price of the iPhone SE 2022 and €479 ($399) for the iPhone SE 2020, which has reduced its appeal in this challenging economic climate. Also, some places are offering the iPhone 15 for the same price as the iPhone 16e, so manny consumers are opting for arguably the better-specced, albeit nearly two-year-old, device. As such, the iPhone 15 also featured in Europe’s top-10 list for April.”
Despite the pricing challenges, the iPhone 16e has still managed to secure a position among the top smartphones in Europe. This represents a positive advancement for Apple, notably given the company’s recent challenges with lawsuits and regulatory issues in the region.
What’s next
Analysts will be closely watching the iPhone 16e’s performance in the coming months to see if sales improve as consumers adjust to the pricing and as promotions become available.
