Apple expands self-driving car trials… ‘Apple Car’ is speeding up again

Apple Insider reported on the 3rd (local time) that Apple is proceeding with the development of autonomous driving technology while the news of the ‘Apple Car’ is hidden under a veil.

Apple recently added one more self-driving test vehicle in California, the US, and 16 drivers have obtained relevant licenses, the report said.

Apple deployed 68 self-driving test vehicles in California in May, according to data from the California Department of Vehicle Registration. Apple added one more test vehicle on July 30th.

As a result, the number of autonomous driving test vehicles at Apple is at the same level as in August 2019, two years ago.

In addition, the number of autonomous driving test drivers increased from 76 in May to 92.

This makes Apple the third most autonomous driving test vehicle in California after Waymo and GM Cruise. Waymo and GM Cruises are operating 615 and 201, respectively.

Apple’s self-driving project started in 2014. The project, called ‘Project Titan’, is said to be focused on the production of ‘Apple Car’.
