Apple users need to be cautious! A new phishing email is being sent out, pretending to be from Apple Support. This email falsely claims that your Apple ID has been suspended due to suspicious activity or outdated information. It urges you to click a link to verify your account.
How the Apple ID Scam Works
The phishing email closely resembles official Apple communications. It features a blue button titled “Go to Apple ID” and creates a sense of urgency by stating you must verify your identity within 24 hours to avoid losing access to your account. Clicking the link leads to a fake website that aims to steal your login credentials and personal information.
Red flags in this scam include:
- The email originates from a suspicious domain (@uaepass.ae) instead of Apple’s official domain (@email.apple.com).
- The email contains awkward language and grammatical errors.
Reporting Phishing Emails to Apple
If you receive a suspicious email, forward it to reportphishing@apple.com. On a Mac, select the email and choose “Forward As Attachment” from the Message menu.
If you think you may have entered personal information, such as a password or credit card number on a scam site, change your Apple Account password immediately.
