Updated June 06,2025
Apple is expected to unveil several smaller Apple Intelligence enhancements at WWDC 2025 next week, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg. Among the anticipated upgrades is a new Genmoji feature allowing users to create custom emoji by merging existing ones. As an example, a basketball and a trash can emoji could be combined into a single Genmoji depicting a basketball going into a trash can.
In addition to Genmoji, iOS 26 is rumored to include an upgraded Shortcuts app powered by Apple Intelligence and a new AI-driven battery mode. The update may also bring system-wide translation capabilities, extending beyond the Messages app to include the Phone app and other areas of the operating system.
Live translation is also anticipated for AirPods.

Gurman noted that the personalized Siri features, previously announced, are still “far off” and are unlikely to be showcased at WWDC 2025. Furthermore, Swift Assist, the coding assistance tool revealed at WWDC 2024, faced development hurdles. Apple now intends to allow developers to use xcode with third-party large language models (LLMs) instead.
What’s next
The unveiling of iOS 26 and its new features is highly anticipated at the upcoming WWDC 2025. The conference is scheduled to begin on June 9.
